The most important factor of web designing

We discussed about many options that you have to create your website. No matter what option you choose, you have to keep in mind these factors by designing your website. This will ensure that you will get a well-designed, customer friendly and search engine friendly website.

Navigation – this is the most priority feature of your website. Without a good navigation system, your visitors will be confused and leave the site immediately. Therefore you need to be very careful about your navigation system and develop it customer friendly. It should be appearing clearly and easy for visitors to navigate around the website. You must allow visitors to navigate to any page within two clicks and not more than that. Always place a direct link to the home page from all other pages. Also design a site map so if visitors get confused he can look at the site map and find their way out.

Plan before start – not only a website, but also any other task this is important. You have to plan very well before starting developing your site. The best way to start planning it get a pencil and paper and draft your site’s main functions and blue print or layout. Then play around it to find out what are the problems and how to make them correct. In this way you will find more problems that you didn’t actually think on the beginning.

Product familiarity – ok, now this is another important point. Many people think that if they want to success online, they have to come up with a whole new idea. This is not the truth, actually visitors or online shoppers like to buy products that they are familiar with, rather than something completely new. Because they know about the product that they are going to purchase, they will buy it with confidence.

Compact information – a shop is not an article. You don’t have to explain every thing about the product in detail. Your product descriptions must be short and sweet. That mean you have to summarize you product with keeping the attraction to it, without destroying the most important points. Because online shoppers are very lazy to waste their time by reading many pages of descriptions. If you have to have a long description, then chop it down into few small pages and let them read it without knowing that this is a long article.

Language – if you are targeting to sell your product world wide, then you have to think about the language of your website. There is no problem that English should be the default language, but many other countries (Eg – Europe, Japan, China) use their own language and not very much familiar with English. Therefore you have to develop your website to support other languages for your targeting countries. This may cost you more money, but you may make more money than the cost it takes you to translate your site into other languages. So, this is a recommended option for you.

Straight forward information – you have to get the customer into the point straight forward, without wasting their time. That mean from the home page, you have to create the customer intention that they found the right place that they are looking for. To do this you must include enough information about your company and product in the home page.

Not too many colors – unless you are developing a website for children age below 12 years, it is not recommending to user too many colors on your website. You have to use about three matching colors on your website. That will make a standard theme of your website. Otherwise visitors will confused and create eye-strain, and finally leave the site.

Use of graphics and animation – since the broadband technology like ADSL are widely spreading this will not make a much intention to your website, but still it is a good practice that you limit big graphics and animations that will take long time to download. You can not expect all your visitors to have DSL, so peoples with slow internet connections should be able to download the contents of your site easily, or they will leave to the site even before it appear on their screen.

Simple is the best – it should be simple and convenience visitors to order an item. Extensive form filling with lots of unwanted information, separate customer registrations, are very frustration. You have to make sure that you record only information that related and need to process the order. As an example age of a customer is irrelevant. For a new customer, a separate registration process will make them to think like an extra work. You can create them an account while they are ordering and the next time they don’t want to repeat entering details. There are software that created to support this process. You many need to spend some amount of money to obtain, but it is worth while.

Website is not a brochure – many companies think website as their brochure. A brochure will not always give information a visitor want. You have to include at least a feedback form to interact with you and display some products in it. Otherwise a customer trying to get details about your products could spend lots of time by searching on google and other web advertisements and when they found your website, they will be completely unsatisfied if you don’t put details about your products and a feedback form.
