The truth is you can sell any thing online, and there is a demand for anything you sell. We are talking here about a market place that billions of people going around. So, even you may able to sell a body of a dead mouse, if you really presumed. But, from the beginning of e-commerce, there are three main products that performed well online. There are books, CDs and computer accessories. According to latest surveys mobile phones and digital cameras are also selling very competitively. There are thousands of products that you can think of selling online such as fashion accessories, toys, ornaments, and gift items are few.

The main reason to sell books online is that buyer is well known about the product, he want to buy the book, and it is very fast and cheap rather than looking around in a book store. He can just search the book by its name, author or ISBN number and order it with in few seconds without waiting at the payment counter. If it is available as en e-book, he can download the book as soon as completing the payment. CDs have the same characteristics of books. Computer accessories perform well because the buyer knows everything about the product and there are no differences between purchasing it over the store or online, because he gets same benefits such as warranty and performance. There is another reason to become these products sell well online. That is buying these products over stores are not a lifestyle, they just need the products as soon as possible and they know what it is unlike fashionable items such as clothes and jewelry; people most of the time shop for fun for those items, some times not actually to buy.

We talked about tangible products, what if you are selling a service such as consultation or data entry? There are difference characteristics applied for selling a service online. You need to think hard about the selling process even your website is only to support your offline business or it does actually selling online. Since, a new buyer has no previous experience of dealing with you; he will not buy your service straight forward. You will have to provide real examples to show the effectiveness of your service. You need to put some comments from your older customers, you can give a free demonstration of your service or you can offer something free prior to buy your service or some other proof of your service.
